Almaty to Host the International Handball Tournament – Asian Women’s Club League Championship

From June 16 to 22, Almaty will become the center of a major continental sports event. This time, the southern capital will host one of the year’s key handball tournaments – the 4th Asian Women’s Club League Championship.

The annual tournament will be held at the universal sports complex “Dostyk,” featuring four women’s club teams: “Almaty” (Kazakhstan, Almaty), “Kaisar-KAM-KGU” (Kazakhstan, Kyzylorda), AGMK (Uzbekistan), and 4.25 Club (North Korea). The tournament champion will earn the right to represent the Asian continent at the prestigious Women’s Super Globe tournament (China, August 2019).

The event aims to develop handball in Kazakhstan, promote a healthy lifestyle among young people, and provide the Kazakhstan women’s national team with valuable international experience ahead of the Asian Qualification Championship (China, Chuzhou, September 2019), where the main goal is to secure an Olympic license for Tokyo 2020.

Notably, the Asian Handball Federation, recognizing Kazakhstan’s experience in hosting international tournaments at a high level, has entrusted the “Kazakhstan Handball Federation” with organizing this prestigious event. Gulnar Turlykhanova has been appointed as the technical delegate from the Asian Handball Federation for the 4th Women’s Asian Club Championship. Additionally, Saleh Bin Ashur, the head of the Asian Handball Federation’s Refereeing and Game Rules Committee, will be present to oversee the matches.
