Kazakhstan women’s handball team will compete for Olympic licenses in Hungary

March 20-22 in Montenegro, Spain and Hungary will be held qualifying tournaments in handball among women’s teams, reports Olympic.kz.

Kazakhstan’s team was supposed to play in the third group along with teams from Norway, Montenegro and Romania. However, the Chinese Handball Federation canceled its participation in the tournament due to an outbreak of coronavirus. Thus, in accordance with the Regulations of the International Handball Federation, the women’s team of Kazakhstan is currently the highest ranked federation in the Asian qualification among women’s teams and will replace the Chinese team at the Olympic Qualification Tournament, which will be held in Győr, Hungary, from March 20 to 22, 2020.

It should be noted that the top two teams from the three groups will get a trip to the Olympic Games in Tokyo.
